Our Story

We are a family run, wife and husband business and consider ourselves a community Insurance Broker. From our experiences, we feel that business clients are not generally receiving the level of service, knowledge and advice when it comes to understanding and managing their insurance risks. Sense Risk want to stand out as the 'go to' insurance and risk broker to business owners which will be demonstrated by our commitment, expertise and collaboration.

The Sense Risk journey began in 2017 when Emily, our founder, needed working flexibility to support their eldest child, who is non-verbal autistic and starting school. After approaching her then employer, Emily requested to work from home and was let down and disappointed when they adopted a blanket approach to working from home and declined her request for fear of setting a precedent, and others to follow.

Seeing her son struggling to adapt to his new surroundings and routine Emily set up Sense Risk in 2019 and Steve joined in 2020; both determined to create a business culture that would advocate for business owners and create a culture of collaboration amongst its clients and staff.

Emily has a passion for the insurance industry, putting her 18 years of knowledge and experience into the client, often challenging policy wordings to ensure that the product they are buying is right from them and speaking to others in the insurance sector about knowledge, qualifications and the application of their skills to their role and customers.

This passion is also directed in developing staff at Sense Risk by creating a business of qualified and experienced risk and insurance advisors that are comfortable challenging the status quo whilst creating a work culture that promoted better mental health, balance, diversity, and inclusion to the benefit of all. Sense Risk has grown to a team of five experts currently in 2025.
